TEACHING STUDIO
JOY OF CELLO
For me, teaching is all about connecting with the student and bringing joy through learning the cello. Music lessons can be so profoundly fulfilling, especially when a special connection builds between student and teacher. As our physical skills increase, our musical doorway begins to open and then the real fun begins!
From 4 year olds to 94 year olds, I have delighted in exploring music with people and discovering humour and beauty in our pursuit of playing a truly magical instrument.
I have taught the cello for over 20 years to people of all ages and abilities. In 2020 the world discovered that online teaching has so very much to offer, and it has been wonderful to keep our development as cellists going, whether in person or online.
I teach a variety of lesson lengths depending on age and format and have a fee range of $45-100. Let’s be in touch about what will suit you the best!

Podcast Feature
I recently had a fun interview with Zara and Rebecca of "Kids Q the Music". We talk about the cello and I play a few short excerpts. Oh yeah, we giggle a lot too.

Online Success
I've been really amazed at how successful online lesson are. Since the pandemic began almost all of my students decided to give online lessons a try so that progress would not be lost and we could keep our music going. It has been tremendously effective and many parents have appreciated the ease of lessons from the comfort of home. I sometimes make housecalls too! Cello lessons are quite easy to adapt to Covid distancing protocols.
Finding the Music
"Working with MK is an absolute treat! As an adult student of the cello, MK has brought together the importance of technique with the joy of playing the most beautiful instrument in the world. I’ve had other teachers, but with MK I feel as though for the first time I’m not just playing the notes, I’m playing the music. She’s the best!"
